Question on a High Number Rock Island. At the Salt Lake gun show this afternoon I saw a Rock Island 1903 in the 385,000 serial number range. The barrel is a Springfield Armory barrel dated 1-32. The rifle has a nice black parkerized finish and is a straight grip finger groove stock. Many a Japanese soldier’s last sight was a Filipino Guerilla aiming a 1911 at him. So, if someone has to make a 1911 clone let them do it if they can do it well. In my opinion, they have succeeded admirably. The handguns are marketed in America under the name Rock Island Armory. That is fine, they have to have a. The rifle has serial Number: 392914. Rock island 1911 description: rock island 1911 in,45 acp cal., with 5' barrel. The condition appears to be equal to that of the Model 1911 Pistol (serial no. I've noticed that some of the 1911s have the RIA logo plastered on almost the entire length of the slide and some just have the logo in small print.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There appears to be light erosion in the grooves, but this may prove to be stubborn fouling.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 96% of its current finish. There are some light draglines and handling marks. There are a few rubs and scuffs, some have caused smooth spots, most noticeable on the bottom of the slide and right side at the port. There are a few little nicks into the metal on the bottom of the slide. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine Plus condition.
